Dogs

We have been around dogs for our entire lives. We currently have three dogs. A thirteen year old long haired miniature Dachshund, an eight year old smooth haired miniature Dachshund and a six year old Rottweiler cross Belgian Shepherd. It’s quite a difference in sizes and temperaments, none of which we find daunting. We have a calm energy around dogs and no breed, size or behaviour issues worry us, we love them all. Not only are we keen on our animals’ health and fitness, we are also into our fitness so we are strong enough to walk larger dogs safely and confidently.

Cats

We absolutely adore cats! We currently have two, but we have had seven in total. Shaun is often referred to as the “cat whisperer” by friends and family as he seems to find a way to befriend any cat that he meets!

Horses

Tamar has been around horses her whole life having full loaned and owned her own. We currently have a twenty-three year old piebald cob that enjoys her hacking and sponsored rides.

Reptiles

Shaun has owned two Leopard geckos so he is confident in handling and caring for reptiles.

Rodents

Over the years we have owned multiple rats and hamsters. Since a young age rats have always been one of Shaun’s favourite animals, their intelligence, cuteness and the fact that they are so misunderstood have always appealed to him.

Birds

We have rescued ex-caged hens for years now. We also had ex-commercial ducks and for a while we rescued a cockerel that had suffered a dog attack. We love taking these birds under our wing (pun totally intended!) and seeing how they flourish after having such a terrible start in life. We both volunteer for the British Hen Welfare Trust and we take part in their rehoming days. It’s so nice seeing them all go off to their new homes!

Having owned various breeds and species of animals, we have seen various health issues in our friends and family’s pets – these include: Egg bound chickens, arthritis in dogs, broken bones in cats, colic and choke in horses, cancer in rats…We really have seen it all! We know the warning signs, and you can be rest assured if we notice anything with your pets that could become a problem, we will act swiftly and accordingly to ensure your pets good health and wellbeing!
